I don’t recommend watching the movie if you’ve read the books, because it differs so much from the books in actual plot that it’s actually infuriating. The Beast is the most egregious; Durza summons a dragon-like monster thing out of thin air and rides it into battle. Absolutely 0 basis in the books.

They made Durza look good though.

Wasn’t Arya Blonde as well? She’s supposed to have black hair.

Yeah she was blonde. She didn’t even look like an Elf either, and though I think the Dwarves were there, in like one scene when they entered the Varden, absolutely no attention was brought to them. I think they’re only mentioned by Galbatorix narrating like once, when he slides his hand across a map talking about conquest (a full map by the way, with all the Elven and Dwarven cities that he was supposed to not know the locations of). The movie is very human-centric, even the Urgals looked like barbaric humans.

The Ra’zac were also terrible. Rather than exoskeletal, chitinous bird things that they were in the books, in the movie Durza conjures them out of a million bugs, beetles, and maggots that formed a humanoid shape, and they’re easily dispatched.

Oh, and though Brom looked nothing like he did in the books (wizard-like vs middle aged man), I do think the actor who played him did a very good job of getting his gruff personality. Because I watched the movie before reading the books, I always think of Brom the way he was portrayed in the movies.

That’s another thing I can rant about, Galbatorix’s looks. Paolini made a drawing of him, and described him in great detail in the book. He just looks like an old man in the film.

Yes. Brom was apparently killed by Durza...

Umm... did they even read the books?

Probably not

I've never really been interested in reading so I've never actually read the books and I feel like I was able to enjoy the film. However I do understand the people who have read the books know this is not very accurate representation, so yes I'd be interested in a movie that more accurately portrays the books.

I watched the movie and read the books and I thought the movie was pretty cool. I also liked some of the things they showed in the movie and preferred them to the book such as the scene up to were Saphira 1 is attacked by Morzans dragon, how both Zar'roc and the Gedwëy ignasia looked, the flame-like shimmer that would run up Zar'rocs blade, the spell Skulblakas ven, the look of Eragon and Saphiras armor. I especially liked the near ending scene where Eragon and Saphira fight Durza and The Beast. However, there are some things I didn't like about the movie with the main thing being how it took them only two days to travel from Carvahall to Farthen Dûr. I would have also preferred they had kept the characters as they looked in the books such as the elves, dwarves, urgals, Eragon and Arya. For Saphira and Brom, I liked how they looked in the movie but I'm not opposed to having them look the same as their book counterparts.
