Hello hello!
We have some great news: new book!
Since the wiki'll be adding loads of new content fairly soon, & since Paolini has shifted the name of the universe to the "World of Eragon", we're going to need a new WORDMARK/SITE-LOGO and other graphics to represent our wiki. We'd like to let all of you put forward your own ideas, & have YOUR artwork represent the whole wiki!
Main Criteria
Our old logo looks like this:
While it's probable we'll still remain the "Inheriwiki", it's important for our logo to showcase that we are a wiki for everything Eragon. To that end, the logo should either:
Be a wordmark incorporating the words "World of Eragon" or something similar to that effect, or:
Be any iconographic logo, such as the gedwëy ignasia symbol, that obviously represents the series.
Other criteria
Keep in mind that the logo needs to look good in dark & light mode. For example, the Dragon Age Wiki's golden logo is clearly legible & pops well regardless of background. Further, it should be somewhat intelligible at smaller sizes.
Dimensions: 500px x 500px maximum, must be representable as a 1mb PNG (SVGs count, or you can just turn in a PNG < 1mb).
Finally, there's a mild preference for files submitted in SVG format, since these can be easily reworked & scaled for use in other places on the wiki, such as our URL favicon or URL embed imagery.
Submission
Feel free to submit your graphics & ideas here or in our Discord (#graphics-contest). Keep in mind that submissions will need to be uploaded to the wiki if selected, & released under CC-BY-SA 3.0. Logo submissions will be open at least until August 7th this year & possibly remain open as far out as October 7th, a month before Murtagh release date!
Selection
Myself &, if they so desire, other admins & content moderators shall help select a small handful of the best submissions — if we have enough submissions, that is. If we do, then we shall allow the community to select their favorite out of the options!
The author of the winning submission will be fully accredited &, if they wish, their user profile will be highlighted on the wiki's main page until the release of Murtagh & a full-year afterward, provided nothing that would tarnish the wiki's reputation is posted on said profile. Within that limit, do whatever you like, share your social media, other art, go wild!
OTHER SUBMISSIONS
These are less critical, but if you would like to submit a new, higher quality favicon or community site image (see link for dimensions), these can be submitted anytime prior to Murtagh release & carry the same rewards, just lasting until the end of 2023 (all winners are fully accredited per the license in perpetuity). Just mention what you're submitting! Remember: favicons are always icons & are tiny, whereas the community site image is similar to the logo in what it should represent (so it can have text), & appears in URL embeds on other websites, among other places.
Have at it! :D
