Nasuada acts as a judge for a case including Gamble, a soldier in the Varden, and an unnamed Surdan farmer. Gamble stole thirteen chickens, and Nasuada delivers justice. Then, Nasuada meets with King Orrin, who has discovered a vacuum, and admonishes him for fooling around. He explains that resting helps him think.
