A Sorceress, a Snake, and a Scroll is the 9th chapter of Eldest. It takes the point of view of Eragon.
Summary[]
After returning from Nasuada's inauguration, Eragon meets Trianna, the sorceress of the Du Vrangr Gata. Trianna tries to woo Eragon and inquires if he is betrothed. Saphira does not like this conversation, and so she scares Trianna away. Eragon becomes frustrated with Saphira, thinking she is just jealous. Saphira reminds Eragon of the bond they share and warns him to be careful of who he chooses as it will affect both of them.
Afterwards, Eragon and Saphira go to see Nasuada, where she tells him of her plan to move the Varden to Surda and to put the word out that Eragon Shadeslayer supports the Varden. She also tells him how she expects Eragon to go to Ellesméra and complete his training. She gives him a scroll, explaining the Varden's situation, to take and informs him that Orik will accompany him and Arya. Later, he talks to Angela about what Nasuada had told him. Angela tells Eragon that she went to Ellesméra once upon a time and that she will leave with the Varden to go to Surda.
