It is a kind of poetry created by Atten the Red, serving as the basis behind most of the balladry spoken in Galbatorix's cabal of nobles. Murtagh also composed Attenwrack during his self-imposed exile after Galbatorix's fall, keeping his mind entertained so he did not reminisce.
Known Poems[]
Murtagh composed several poems throughout the book.
Eagle soars, eagle hunts, a king of air.
Sparrows dart, sparrows flock, no crown to wear.
Ever at odds, the many against the one.
In equal combat, the eagle prevails.
Unequal and harried, the sovereign fails.
Fly as you are told or fly alone, the
End of each is still the same. The chilled
Embrace of death will calm your final care.
