Brom's tomb was the final resting place of Brom after he was killed by the Ra'zac.

Location[]

The tomb was located just southwest of Helgrind and Dras-Leona, directly east of Leona Lake. The general area was on the west coast of Alagaësia, by the southern ranges of the the Spine. On the map, the tomb is marked by an arch with a small star on the top amidst a group of small hills.

The tomb[]

Brom's tomb was originally a rectangular tomb of sandstone that Eragon used magic on and built into the side of the cliff that he, Saphira, as well as Murtagh were hiding in. When Eragon and Saphira were visiting Brom's tomb the next morning, Saphira touched the tomb with her nose and turned it into diamond. Eragon also engraved the tomb.

The words Eragon scratched on to the sandstone tomb read:

     HERE LIES BROM
Who was a Dragon Rider
        and like a father
                 to me
May his name live in glory

Ironically he later learned that Brom actually was his father.[1]

Promise[]

After Brom's death, Eragon vowed to one day revisit his tomb and placed wards around it to protect it from those who would desecrate it.[2] After defeating Galbatorix, Eragon made good on his promise.[3] The visit was brief and tearful, for at this time Eragon knew that Brom was his father, as well as the old man's history. Eragon placed the protection wards around the grave and amended the original carving on the tomb to this:

HERE LIES BROM
Who was
A Rider bonded to the dragon Saphira
Son of Holcomb and Nelda
Beloved of Selena
Father of Eragon Shadeslayer
Founder of the Varden
And Bane of the Forsworn.
May his name live on in glory.
Stydja unin mor'ranr.

Eragon noted that the epitaph was less personal, but it seemed more fitting for a man like Brom.
