The Dwarf-Dragon Conflicts were series of skirmishes that happened over the course of time before elves and humans came to Alagaësia. These battles took place between the dwarves and the dragons. And though these conflicts never erupted into a full-scale war, they were the cause of a long rivalry that still existed during Eragon's day. This is obvious when Hrothgar describes dragons as savage.
Origin[]
The dwarves and the dragons were two very different beings, and because of that they were often at odds with each other. The dragons had a tendency to prey on the surface dwarves' livestock and steal from their treasure hords. This and other things was the cause of these mild battles.
Advantages[]
Both sides had advantages in one way or the other. The dwarves were excellent smiths. They had great weapons and armor. The dragons, however, had skin for armor and amazing powers as they were strongly connected to magic.
