Eragon's Elvish Guards were twelve elven spellcasters assigned by Islanzadí to protect Eragon. There were six males and six females, led by Blödhgarm, who was the only guard named in Brisingr. All of them were black-haired, except for Blödhgarm, who had blue fur, as well as two silver-haired females. One of them played music during Katrina's and Roran's wedding. Wyrden died in the tunnels under Dras-Leona, killed by amethyst spikes that sprung out of the walls. He was the only of the twelve that died whilst performing his duty of protecting Eragon and Saphira. All except him, Laufin and Uthinarë went with Eragon on his journey to find a place for the Riders and Dragons to live. It was noted by Islanzadí that the 12 had survived encounters with the Forsworn, perhaps suggesting them had participated in the Battle for Ilirea or the Battle of the Plains of Ilirea.
