Hvedra was a female dwarf of the clan Dûrgrimst Ingeitum. She was engaged to Orik and they intended to get married in the spring, however they had to push back the marriage so that Orik could comply with Hrothgar's order to accompany Eragon to Du Weldenvarden. She was the granddaughter of Vardrûn, as well as the daughter of Thorgerd One-eye and Himinglada. Hvedra was described to be very pretty, with rosy cheeks and pale white calves.

Hvedra was also a Grimstcarvlorss of Dûrgrimst Ingeitum, having become so soon after the death of Hrothgar.

Appearance Edit

Hvedra is described by Orik in Eldest as having "white, round calves as smooth as satin, cheeks as red as apples, and the prettiest dwarf maid who ever did exist".

However, this is after Orik spoke this after he had just had a glass of faelnirv, so some of the description might be exaggerated.

Role in the books Edit

Hvedra is first mentioned in Eldest, however her first appearance is in Brisingr.

Trivia Edit

  • She and Orik would rub their noses against each other as a sign of affection, but it is unknown if this was a private gesture, or a common sign of affection between husband and wife in the Dwarven culture.
