The Inheritance Almanac is a book by Shurtugal.com webmaster Mike Macauley that was released on October 26, 2010. The Inheritance Almanac is also available for Amazon's Kindle e-reader.

Information[]

The book, Macauley's project for the past two years, was published by Random House. It styles itself "an A-Z guide to the world of Eragon". The cover design features Shruikan (the only modern dragon not to have been previously depicted on a book cover) against a blue background. Material is taken from Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr, Eragon's Guide to Alagaësia, the Inheritance chapter King Cat and online interviews.

The book begins with a foreword by Mike Macauley which discusses the publication history of the Cycle and explains Macauley's motivation for creating the Almanac. The main text comprises an encyclopedic guide to the Cycle, interpersed with greyscale illustrations (many from Eragon's Guide to Alagaësia and Alagaesia.com) and photographs illustrating both the world of the Cycle and displaying some of Christopher Paolini's inspirations. Additional notes discuss references to other works in the Cycle and explore its origins. An appendix provides lists of Dragons and Riders, Dwarf clans, Elf families, mountains, residents of Carvahall, rivers and lakes. This forms a quick reference for much of the material not explicitly mentioned in the main text.
