Kílf was the dwarven goddess of rivers and the sea, and the mate of Gûntera, king of deities.[1] As the water goddess, she was asscoiated with water liles and coral.[1]

Creation of the Races[]

After Helzvog created the dwarves, the other gods created the other sentient races of Alagaësia out of jealousy, with Kílf being the only one who restrained herself.[1]

Description[]

Appearance[]

In her statue at Celbedeil, Kílf was depicted as having flowing hair and merry, amethyst, eyes.[1]

Personality[]

Kílf's personality is not described by the dwarves, however, her restraint during the creation of the races shows her self-control and lack of envy towards others.

Etymology[]

Ledwonnû translates as "Kílf's necklace" but is also used as a generic term for necklace in Dwarvish.

Real-World Connections[]

Kílf has appeared in the non-canon Sverd Shelgr webcomic, though for copyright purposes she is only called the "Dwarven Goddess of Rivers" and never by name. She maintains her worship by flooding and destroying Dwarven settlements that neglect her, making her a bit darker than she is portrayed in the novels. She is, however, friendly and mild.
