Mount Arngor is the 1st chapter of The Fork, the Witch, and the Worm. It takes the point of view of Eragon.
Summary[]
The chapter starts off with Eragon sitting at his desk in the eyrie, ruminating over his meetings with Hruthmund about supplies from the Dwarves. There is a brief description of Arngor Mountain and the surrounding landscape, followed by the many names for the mountain used by the various races.
Eragon appears to have lost a considerable amount of weight in the time since moving to The Eastern Reaches, due to the energy he is devoting to the creation of the new Dragon Riders Academy. Saphira suggests he find something else to occupy his time, to take a break from the work, and after a short argument he agrees. He wanders down from the eyrie and there is a description of the chambers of the mountain and of the courtyard.
Urgals are wrestling in the courtyard and Ästrith and Rílven are on guard along the battlements. Eragon wanders around the courtyard and inspects the construction of the main hall and then checks the storerooms instead of following Saphira's advice, to which she shows annoyance. He eventually made his way to the Hall of Colors, where the Eldunarí were being kept. Glaedr and Umaroth, upon sensing his fatigue, offered to show him a vision of Alagaësia.
