Storyline

Much like the The Song of Gerand, Sweet Aethrid o' Dauth was a popular tale with questionable accuracy regarding the history of Alagaësia. Some of the lyrics of the comic version run:

So with her hair aflying, sweet Aethrid o' Dauth

Ran to Lord Edel and cried, "Free my lover,

Else a witch shall turn you into a woolly goat!"

Lord Edel, he laughed and said, "No witch shall turn me into a woolly goat!"

The presence of a harsh lord and the beautiful maiden's attempt to rescue her lover may be derived from the condition of the ordinary citizens of the Empire.
