Tharos the Quick was the Captain of the Guard at Aroughs during the Rider War. He was one of the sons of Lord Halstead, the last to remain in the city with him. He was the brother of Galiana. Tharos and a small number of his horsemen met Roran on the roads around Aroughs and briefly talked with him. Roran’s scheme caused him hesitate out of caution so he did not attack Roran, but though Roran noted Tharos did not show much distress when he learnt his father was dead, he was enraged upon learning that Galiana had also perished. Later, after the Siege of Aroughs he, like Hamlin in Gil'ead, led a small rebellion against Nasuada's rule which took several months to put down. His motivation behind his rebellion was to avenge the death of his sister while Hamlin's was to avenge his loss of status.

Tharos is described as short and bearded and was seen to wear a plumed helmet when he talked with Roran.
