The Mourning Sage (chapter)

The Mourning Sage is the 59^th and last chapter of Eragon. It takes the point of view of Eragon.

Summary

The chapter begins with Eragon fighting against the memories of Durza. When they are close to overwhelming him, he is contacted by Togira Ikonoka, the Cripple Who Is Whole, who helps Eragon rid himself of the memories. He tells Eragon to go to Ellesméra to complete his training. When Eragon awakes he finds he has been healed by Angela, though Angela explains what she could do is limited. He feels his back and discovers the scar running from shoulder to hip. Murtagh compares Eragon to himself (both now have a scar running along their back). Eragon is saddened by the scar, but resolves to continue his training and promises Togira Ikonoka that he will come.
