The Obliterator is the 43rd chapter of Eldest. It takes the point of view of Eragon.

Main events[]

Eragon and Vanir fight each other with magic and Vanir wins. He learns that gemstones can hold energy for magic as he is taught more about the origins of magic.

Title[]

The title comes from a name Eragon creates for pain: The Obliterator. He tells Saphira that when you are in pain nothing else exists other than pain and the desire to escape.
