The Witch and the Werecat is the 26th chapter of Eragon. It takes the point of view of Eragon. It is also one of the more important chapters, containing vital clues to the further books.
Summary[]
Eragon wakes up in Jeod's house. He wanders around Teirm and finally arrives at Angela's shop. He meets a werecat, Solembum. Angela appears, and tells him that she tells the fortune of everyone who can talk to Solembum which has only been three people including him. She tells Eragon that the first was a woman named Selena whose fortune was bleak and horrible. Angela recalls the horrified look on the woman's face. The second chose not to receive a fortune-telling. Eragon decides that if that was his mother, then he could be strong like her and receive his fortune. She pulls out the knucklebones of a dragon, with which she predicts Eragon's future. Eragon reveals his and Brom's names to Angela, despite their use of aliases with everyone besides Jeod. He then goes back to Jeod's house. Brom then tells him about scrying, and mentions that Galbatorix might go after Roran, to use him as leverage so as he can persuade Eragon to join him.
