This individual was a member of the Priests of Helgrind. After recovering from the shock of seeing Eragon, Arya, Angela and Solembum, the former two having been imprisoned by the priests in the catacombs below Dras-Leona to be feed to a newly-hatched Ra'zac, the High Priest of Helgrind ordered his subordinates at attack the four, shouting that the infidels must be punished for their crimes against the Old Ones, to which the congregation of priests answered with howls and stamps of their feet, and Eragon felt their minds clawing at his, like a pack of wolves tearing at a weakened victim, forcing him to retreat into his mind before joining in mental forces with Arya. After witnessing the deaths of five of their comrades, most of the Helgrind priesr scattered across the cathedral, leaving only the man and five others remaining. Despite witnessing how easily the four had disposed of their companions, the five followers of Helgrind charged at Eragon, brandishing curved knives with what hands they still possessed. After extracting themselves from one of their comrades thrown into her companions by Eragon, the priests resumed their charge. Stepping forward, Eragon blocked a clumsy slash from the foremost priest; then—with a shout of “Ha!”—he drove his fist into the man’s gut and sent him flying into a pew, which the priest struck with a nasty crack, killing him.
