This individual was the Urgal chieftain of a tribe of Kull that participated in the alliance made between the Urgals and Galbatorix. Having been subsequently enslaved by Durza, this chieftain led his clan to rendezvous at the ruins of Orthíad, but broke off to pursue Eragon, Saphira and Murtagh in their effort to find sanctuary from the Broddring Empire with the Varden, although this ultimately resulted in his and his forces' deaths when the Varden ambushed and massacred the Urgals.

Service to the Broddring Empire[]
Pursuing a Dragon and Rider[]
When an alliance was formed in secrecy between the Urgals and Galbatorix, who offered the Urgals fertile new territories in return for their assistance in destroying the Varden and dwarves, the Urgal clans, including that which this chieftain led, were bent to the will of Durza, a Shade in the Empire's service, who subsequently forced them to band together despite their customs to form an army that was ordered to assembled in the rechristened Ithrö Zhâda. At an unspecified point in time, this chieftain also encountered Murtagh Morzansson, who remembered him well enough both to know of his vicious and unstable nature and recognise his own personal symbol, describing the Urgal to Eragon as "a ruthless brute given to fits of insanity". During this encounter, which Murtagh claims to have been brief, the son of Morzan gained several scars, although whether these were inflicted by the Urgal chieftain himself is unconfirmed. Murtagh also claimed that the chief wasn't the sort to let someone as dangerous as a living dragon escape his clutches.
Along with the rest of the Urgals now in service to the Empire, the warchief and his tribe of Kull were ordered to travel to Ithrö Zhâda from where Galbatorix intended to have then attack Tronjheim and as a result, the tribe was being led at a march for the destination when they caught sight of Saphira, who, along with her rider Eragon, was in the company of Murtagh. Having either heard of Eragon's escape from Gil'ead or simply recognized a dragon as a danger, the Urgal Chieftain redirected his forces in a pursuit through the Beor Mountains, the endurance of the Kull allowing them to maintain a marching pace, although they suffered a setback when Saphira rained rocks down on the group. When the Urgal Chieftain and his tribe finally caught up with Eragon, Saphira and Murtagh at Kóstha-mérna, however, they were ambushed by warriors of the Varden, who ultimately slew the entire group, including the chieftain, who the Varden discovered at the cost of twelve members to be in possession of a parchment containing within it obscure instructions written in Galbatorix's personal code.
Trivia[]
- Some fans speculate that this chieftain could have been Garzhvog, but this would be impossible, as Ajihad claims the entire group of Urgals pursuing Eragon, Murtagh and Saphira were slaughtered, including their chieftain, while Garzhvog survived to led the Urgals in their alliance with Nasuada and the Allied Army.
